The monsoon season continues to bring heavy rainfall across various parts of India. On Thursday, September 5, which coincides with Teachers’ Day, the states of Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi are expected to experience significant rainfall. The recent showers have led to a notable drop in temperature, particularly at night.
Current Weather Patterns
According to meteorologists, a low-pressure area has formed over southeast Rajasthan and adjacent southwest Madhya Pradesh. This low-pressure system is linked to a cyclonic circulation extending up to 3.1 kilometers above sea level. Additionally, the monsoon trough is moving from Jaisalmer through the center of the low-pressure area and is extending towards the eastern central Bay of Bengal.
The western disturbance is observed as a trough in the tropospheric westerly winds, located north of 31 degrees latitude at around 65 degrees east longitude. Over northern peninsular India, an upper air cyclonic circulation is present at around 20 degrees north latitude, extending up to 3.1 kilometers above sea level.

A new low-pressure area is likely to form around September 5 over the west-central and adjacent northwest Bay of Bengal. This development could bring more widespread rain.

Isolated heavy rain accompanied light to moderate showers in Telangana, Konkan, Goa, parts of Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh. Scattered light to moderate rain was also recorded in northeastern India, Sikkim, coastal Karnataka, Kerala, and Gujarat.
